Royal Caribbean drink package worth it? Full breakdown and review

I am going on a 7-night Royal Caribbean cruise and trying to decide whether to buy the drink package. It costs about $70-90 per day per person. Is it actually worth it? How many drinks per day do you need to break even? Does it include bottled water, specialty coffee, and smoothies? Are there any tricks or days where it makes more sense to buy it versus paying per drink?

I have taken 4 Royal Caribbean cruises with the drink package and here is my honest assessment: The Deluxe Beverage Package currently costs around $70-99 per person per day (varies by ship and sailing). To break even you need to drink about 6-8 alcoholic beverages per day at $12-15 each, plus a couple of specialty coffees or fresh juices. What is included: beer, wine by the glass, cocktails, spirits, soda, bottled water, specialty coffee, and fresh squeezed juices. Pretty much everything except items from the mini bar and bottles of wine. Is it worth it? It depends on your drinking habits: - If you plan to have cocktails by the pool, wine at dinner, and a nightcap, yes it is worth it. - If you mostly drink water and an occasional beer, no. - On port days you might not drink enough since you are off the ship. - On sea days you will likely get your money worth. Important rules: - Everyone 21+ in the same cabin must buy the package if one person does (to prevent sharing). - You cannot share drinks with someone who does not have the package. - Sometimes Royal Caribbean runs pre-cruise sales offering 20-30% off - watch for those. My advice: buy it for sea days only if that option is available, or watch for the pre-cruise sales.
